SKI LEVELS FOR CHILDREN

Bear
I am at least 3 years old and I have never skied before. My lessons take place in the evolutive snow garden.
I will learn : to walk on the flat, change direction with on the spot turns, I will slide across the slope and I’ll stop going up the hill.

Snowflake
I have my Bear/Gold medal. I have already done a week’s skiing. I can slide and do small steps on my skis.
I will learn : traverse with parallel skis across the slope and do an upslope turn, change direction down the hill and go on the baby-lift.

1st Star
I have my Snowflake/Gold medal. I can walk on my skis, go down a baby slope and I know how to take the baby ski lift.
I will learn : to go up the slope in duck steps and side steps, do half-turns up the hill, slide and traverse across the slope, ski downhill and turn with a full stop and I will learn to do simple parallel turns.

2nd Star
I have my 1st star/Gold medal. I can walk uphill, I do controlled turns on blue slopes, I know how to stop.
I will learn : to step turn up and down the hill, go over moguls, do nice parallel turns and simple form of short turns.

3rd Star
I have my 2nd star/Gold medal. I can do a series of controlled turns on red slopes and I have a good overall position with bent knees.
I will learn : the skater’s walk, short turns, carved turns and how to have good technique on steep slopes.

THE CLUBS

Freestyle
I have my 3rd Star/Gold. I know how to ski on black runs doing parallel turns and on red runs with short turns, I control my speed and my direction under all circomstances.
I will learn : Safety in the snow park, various jumps, slope style, rotation technique, back country jumps, switch skiing.

Performance
I have my 3rd Star/Gold. I know how to ski on black runs doing parallel turns and on red runs with short turns, I control my speed and my direction under all circomstances.
I will learn : to ski on 1 ski, short turns on moguls, various types of short turns and carved turns, jumps, synchronised skiing and slalom technique.

Freeride
I have my 3rd Star/Gold. I know how to ski on black runs doing parallel turns and on red runs with short turns, I control my speed and my direction under all circomstances.
I will learn: to use the DVA equipment, the dangers of off-piste skiing, snow quality readings, to plan the off-piste runs, what to do in case of an accident and first aid, downhill technique and cliff jumps.

ADULT LEVELS


I have never skied.

I have skied for 1 week and I know how to stop and turn on the baby slope.

I have skied 2-3 weeks, I’m an average skier and I can do parallel turns on a blue slope.

I can ski on blue and red slopes but I’m uncomfortable on black slopes.

I can ski on all slopes with good overall control.
